Two notes on AUSA

First, I want to say I have a hard-on for AUSA’s AMV room. AMVs are fun, but what’s more fun is going to programming blocks you know. We’ve all seen AMV Hell a few times, but what AUSA’s AMV room brings to the table is a room full of sweaty otaku that know all the lines like it’s fucking Rocky Horror. It’s hard to meet new people at a con in a way that doesn’t seem fleeting. But singing and laughing along with a hundred people is the sort of experience you can’t get anywhere else. That we all knew the jokes by heart just makes it better.

Second, I hung out in the Hetalia video room for a while because it was empty and cold and Hetalia is funny. There was a loud, talkative, silly girl in there dressed as Italy. I think you get a pass on being annoying if you’re doing it in character and in the right place.

Howdy everyone. We’re all suffering from con plague, but should have an AUSA report up shortly. And I’ll get around to watching more IY: TFA, if anyone’s actually reading those recaps. Well, back to my favorite cure: alcohol. Oh, alcohol.

The Best Brawl+ Custom Soundtrack Ever

Any of you who know me know that I have been ranting about Brawl+ for ages now. It’s a fan made modification to Super Smash Brother’s Brawl that not only rebalances the game, introduces techniques like crouch canceling, emphasizes edge guarding, and balances offense with defense by rewarding aggression, but it also lets you put in your own custom textures and soundtracks into the game. Now unfortunately, this means that you end up getting several thousand Brawl+ consoles with stages blaring Linkin Park, but every so often, you get something like this … and it is AWESOME!

Be on the lookout for a Brawl+ station at Anime USA in two weeks. I, and others will be bringing the tools to convert Brawl to Brawl+ for the gaming room to utilize. I’ll be waiting to face you guys in combat! Anyone who beats me gets fruit salad!
